D Magazine Updates

If you haven't checked out my D Magazine article naming the top 16 BBQ joints in DFW, then please take a look here, or better yet, pick up a copy.

The discussion of the article has been ongoing on DMag's SideDish, and on the radio this morning. A video of some Kevin Marple outtake photos with a voice over from yours truly can be found here for your enjoyment.

Most importantly, I've issued a BBQ Challenge to anyone who can name a joint in the DFW area that I have not visited. Please joint in on the fun if you have a suggestion.

If you have a hankerin' to visit each of the joints, then check out this map put together by Jeff Meeker of each of the top 16.

Glad you enjoyed the map. I came in handy for me this weekend when picking out which top spots to visit. Hit Off The Bone and Longoria's. Totally worth the drive from north Dallas. Ribs at OTB and sausage at Longoria's were real winners.

DISCLAIMER:

Each joint is judged on the essence of Texas 'cue...sliced brisket and pork ribs. Sausage is only considered if house made. Sauce is good, but good meat needs no adornment to satisfy. Each review can only be based on specific cuts of meat on that particular day. Finally, if the place fries up catfish or serves a caesar salad, then chances are they aren't paying enough attention to the pits, so we mostly steered clear.
